THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: As the trial in the mainour theft case is about to begin, Minister Antony Raju has approached the High Court demanding that the case be quashed. In his petition, Antony Raju demanded that the case in Nedumangad Magistrate Court should be quashed.
Meanwhile, the government has started the process to appoint a special public prosecutor in the case. It was Thrissur native George Vattukulam who approached the Chief Minister requesting the appointment of a special prosecutor.
The High Court had earlier sought a report from the Nedumangad Magistrate Court regarding the protracted trial in the case. The petitioner approached the chief minister when the magistrate court was going to hear the case again on Thursday. In his petition to the CM, George Vattukulam pointed out that the appearance of government lawyers in the case against the minister would hinder the transparent conduct of the case.
