KABUL: At least eight people were killed in a bomb blast at a residential area in Afghanistan’s capital Kabul. A total of 18 people have sustained injuries. The deadly blast took place on Saturday. The Islamic State (IS) has claimed responsibility for the attack.
The blast was targeted against an ethnic group namely Hazaras, the largest religious minority in Afghanistan. The IS attack was launched against the women and children, who had gathered at a mosque for prayers. Two blasts have been reported in the area. Of which, one of the bombings took place at Imam Baqir Mosque in the Sar-e Karez area. Meantime, the IS claimed in its statement that 20 people were killed in the attack.
