THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Vice Chancellor Gopinath Ravindran has given an interim report to the Governor stating that Priya Varghese, wife of the Chief Minister's private secretary and former MP K K Ragesh, has not been appointed as an associate professor in the Malayalam department in Kannur University. The rank list including Priya Varghese has been sent for legal scrutiny. The VC informed that a decision on the appointment will be taken only after a detailed examination and the actions will be taken as per the decision of the Syndicate.

Priya Varghese, a teacher at Kerala Varma College, Thrissur was interviewed and given first rank last November just before the extension of Kannur VC's term. The appointment became controversial. The complaint filed to the Governor was that Gopinath Ravindran was reappointed as VC as a reward for this irregular action. The syndicate approved the postponed rank list last month. The complaint also stated that she did not have the experience needed for the post.
