HARARE: India has registered an emphatic win in Harare by beating Zimbabwe by 10 wickets in the first match of the ODI series.
Chasing a paltry 190, openers Shubman Gill and Shikhar Dhawan finished the job in just 30.5 overs with Gill remaining unbeaten on 82 off 72 balls while Dhawan scored an unbeaten 81 off 113 balls.
Earlier in the day, KL Rahul won the toss and opted to bowl first and the bowlers did not disappoint. Batting first, Zimbabwe were bowled out for 189 runs in 40.2 overs. Captain Regis Chakabva scored 35 runs and was the top scorer for the hosts. Deepak Chahar, Prasidh Krishna and Axar Patel took three wickets each while Mohammad Siraj took one wicket. The bowlers did not allow the Zimbabwean batting line-up to settle at any stage of the match. Brad Evans (33) and Richard Ngarava (34) added 70 runs for the ninth wicket to take the hosts to 189. This is the highest ninth-wicket partnership in Zimbabwe's history.
