KOCHI: Taking lottery tickets from Ernakulam Vennala Service Co-operative bank may not guarantee you a prize but it is surely for a good deed.

The lottery sale is to raise funds for Ashwas treatment financing scheme which was being conducted by the bank for three years. They sell only the bumper tickets of Kerala lottery and the commission received from that is added to the treatment fund. The bank receives Rs 96 by selling one ticket. They aim to achieve Rs 3 lakh by sale of Onam bumper. Tickets are bought through the agency in Aluva. 100 tickets were sold in two days.

The lottery counter has been opened in nearby places including head office in Vennala. The bank has been giving Rs 10 lakh per year for treatment financing scheme since 2018. The maximum amount given to a person is Rs 25000. 125 patients were given assistance. Due to the high demand, they decided to try the sale of Onam bumper ticket which costs Rs 500 and has a first prize of Rs 25 crore.
