KOCHI: The Kerala High Court rejected the pleas filed by Swapna Suresh seeking to quash an FIR registered against her for allegedly conspiring and to cause a riot in the state. The court dismissed the pleas after accepting the state government's argument that the investigation was in its preliminary stage in the two pleas filed by her. Swapna approached the high court requesting the conspiracy case registered by the Thiruvananthapuram cantonment police and the call to cause riot taken by the Palakkad Kasaba police, be quashed. The court said the police can proceed with their investigation.
Swapna submitted an affidavit containing serious allegations against K T Jaleel in the plea filed in the high court. The affidavit contained allegations that Jaleel had engaged in anti-country activities and met UAE officials without the permission of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Swapna told the court that the police case was revenge for revealing the information she knew against the chief minister in connection with the gold smuggling. However, the court did not take this at face value. After registering the case, if necessary, Swapna can approach the court to quash the charge sheet.
After giving a confidential statement in the Ernakulam Principal Sessions Court over the gold smuggling case, Swapna Suresh made a revelation to the media against Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and his family. Following this, cases were registered against her in Thiruvananthapuram and Palakkad.
The Thiruvananthapuram cantonment police registered a case on the complaint of former minister K T Jaleel on charges of conspiracy. Swapna had filed a plea for anticipatory bail in this case, but the court rejected it. She filed a plea again for anticipatory bail and this is under the consideration of the court. The case in Palakkad was registered on the complaint filed by a lawyer for causing riots.
Meantime, LDF convener E P Jayarajan responded that the observation of the court is very correct. The court has accepted that what the government said is true. There are many conspiracies behind this. Jayarajan stated that such moves are part of a conspiracy to tarnish the government of Kerala and to insult the chief minister personally and all that will be disclosed in the police investigation.
