Items in the kit
Cashew nuts 50g, Milma ghee 50ml, Sabari chili powder 100g, turmeric powder 100g, cardamom 20g, coconut oil 500ml, tea 100g, jaggery coated banana chips 100g, brown rice 500g, sugar 1kg, chickpeas 500g, pigeon peas 250 grams, 1 kg powdered salt and a cloth bag.
Kits will be distributed to AAY (Yellow) card holders on August 23 and 24. Free food kit will be given to PHH (Pink) card holders on August 25, 26 and 27, NPS (Blue) card holders on August 29, 30, 31 and NPNS (White) card holders on September 1, 2 and 3. The kits will be distributed by September 7.
Those unable to purchase on the earlier dates can purchase kits on September 4, 5, 6 and 7. It will be a working day for ration shops on September 4. Food Minister GR Anil said that all card holders should make sure to get the kits from their respective ration shops.
It was also decided to include chips in a few kits due to non-availability of jaggery. Food kits will be delivered at door step by Public Distribution Department officials in all government approved welfare institutions. Food kits will be distributed door-to-door in tribal villages. Supplyco has also decided to sell special food kits during festive seasons like Onam, Christmas and Ramzan from this year.
Packing of Onam kit is in progress at Supplyco's 1400 packing centers. A maximum of 87 lakh kits are expected to be distributed. 57 lakh kits are ready for distribution. Daily online meeting of officials is held to review packing progress. There are special squads to ensure the quality and weight of the food kit items.
