CHENNAI: A financier was hacked to death at his office in Velankanni, Tamil Nadu. The dead has been identified as T V R Manohar, a native of Nagapattinam. The incident took place on Wednesday night.

According to reports, Manohar was counting cash at his office when a three-member gang barged in and hacked him. Initially, he was able to fend of the attack, but was overpowered eventually. Following the attack, the miscreants fled the place.

Another individual, Manivel, who was present in the office at the time of the attack, also suffered severe injuries. He was attacked while trying to save Manohar and is currently admitted to the hospital. As the assailants had worn masks, they have not been identified yet. The CCTV footage of the area is being examined by the police. An investigation is underway into the incident, said the police.
