Nirmal always loved adventures. He used to watch war news very carefully. It was only later that we came to know nirmal went for civil service training and went straight from there to join the army,this is what Nirmal’s father said waiting for bidding a farewell to his dear son. Nirmal joined the Indian Military Academy, Dehradun at the age of 22 after passing the Combined Defense Service Examination. After completing one and a half years of training, he joined the service as a lieutenant. He served two years in Arunachal Pradesh on the Chinese border. Then he served at Surajghat in Rajasthan and on the Pakistan border.

Nirmal got married last December. Lieutenant Gopichandra, a native of Thiruvananthapuram is nirmal’s life partner. He wanted to work on the India-China border. Nirmal belongs to the Army Education Corps. He got a job in the Central Bank while studying for his post-graduation, but he didn’t accept,why because Nirmal Sivarajan wanted stories of serving his country.
