THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The CPM on Sunday strongly criticized governor Arif Muhammed Khan. The CPM state secretariat said in a statement that he should examine whether it is befitting of the governorship to react in a manner that does not suit his position.
"The governor's action of calling the Kannur VC, who is a well-known academician and historian, a criminal, is highly objectionable. The governor should clarify what criminal offense the VC has committed. The Kannur VC is the person who only legally disagreed with the action taken by the governor. By appointing well-known RSS men as his staff and turning his office into a center of intrigue against the government, the governor is degrading the Raj Bhavan to the level of a mere RSS branch. Instead of pointing out the mistake, the governor should make it clear who he is trying to please through the political interventions that cross all boundaries. His attempt is to destroy the achievements of higher education in Kerala. Kerala is also on the path of progress in the field of public education. It is unfortunate that the governor is unable to see and acknowledge these achievements.", the statement reads.
The statement also points out that the purpose of the deliberate statements and provocative interventions on the part of the governor against the government before the election of the President and Vice President is clear.
