KOCHI: A case has been registered against five people, including CPM area secretary, in connection with the attack on the CPI office in Njarakkal. Some CPM activists had attacked the CPI local committee office in Vypin following a dispute over the Njarakkal cooperative bank polls.
Many, including the CPI constituency secretary, have sustained injuries in the attack. The victims have been identified as CPI Vypin constituency secretary K L Dileep Kumar and local secretary N A Dasan. Following the incident, CPI district secretary said that the attack on the party office was unacceptable. He added that he will lodge a complaint with the LDF.
The Congress-CPI alliance had won in the Njarakkal cooperative bank polls. Soon after the results came out, CPM activists barged into the office and broke the flagpole and flexes. They also attacked the leaders and vandalized the chairs inside the office.
Ahead of the polls, the CPM had formed an alliance with the Kerala Congress (M), without consulting the CPI. Following which, the CPI formed an alliance with the Congress.
