THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: It has been criticized that pictures of many from the social and cultural fields of the capital city were not included when the foot over bridge in East Fort is to be inaugurated today. Many of the famous people were not included in the pictures of the Renaissance heroes who contributed to the Thiruvananthapuram under the name of 'Abhimanam Ananthapuri'.
The authorities were not able to include ONV and Sugathakumari, who were the face of the capital in the field of literature in Abhimanam Ananthapuri. The pics of media patriarch and editor K Sukumaran, orator, writer and journalist K Balakrishnan, former Thiru-Kochi Chief Minister C Kesavan, former minister K Pankajakshan, Gandhian P Gopinathan Nair, director Adoor Gopalakrishnan, founder of Merryland Studios P Subramaniam, sports pride G V Raja, KCS Mani who fought against the monarchy, director Priyadarshan and others were not included in the picture gallery at Foot Over Bridge. The list has omitted many other prominent figures.
The corporation kept away many people for the sole reason that they were not born in Thiruvananthapuram. Meantime, the other question is, on what criteria Mohanlal born in Pathanamthitta was included in the list of Thiruvananthapuram? The pictures of social reformers Sree Narayana Guru, Ayyankali, Chattambi Swamy and Chithira Thirunal Balarama Varma are placed among the film personalities. It has been demanded that the Corporation should take immediate intervention in this regard and make necessary changes.
When pictures of Mayor Arya Rajendran and former mayors’ V K Prashanth and K Sreekumar were included, other eminent mayors were excluded. The explanation of the authorities is that the mayors during the construction period of the foot over bridge were included.
