THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A clash has broken out between SFI activists and the police at the Karyavattom Government College in Thiruvananthapuram. The clash broke out on Monday evening after the SFI launched a protest against the principal for turning down their petition to readmit an SFI leader. They also locked the principal in the room.
SFI activists had demanded that the SFI leader student, who completed the course, should be readmitted to the same course. However, the principal turned down their petition by pointing out that it was illegal. Following this, the SFI activists locked him up in the room.
Although the SFI activists locked the gate to prevent the police from entering the college, the police forcefully opened the gate and brought the principal out of the room. The police then chased away the SFI activists who came to stop them. Police have arrested five SFI workers in connection with the incident. Four policemen sustained injuries.
