THRISSUR: It has been alleged that six teachers, including Dr Priya Varghese, delayed the declaration of results of the second semester BA degree Malayalam examination in Calicut University by 7 months by not completing the evaluation of the answer sheets. This has been mentioned in the audit report of 2018-19 submitted by the state audit department. This information came out after the High Court stayed the process of appointing Priya Varghese to the post of Malayalam Associate Professor in Kannur University.

The audit report, which assessed that the declaration of results was delayed due to the lapses on the part of the teachers, added that it should be informed about the details regarding the further action taken against the teachers. The report also pointed out that although the anomaly was brought to the attention of the teachers, they did not give any reply. Each teacher was given 165 answer sheets. The teachers, however, evaluated only 35 papers and returned the rest.

The camp chairperson had informed the controller of examinations that the six teachers had accepted only 210 out of 990 answer sheets. The incident took place when Priya Varghese was an assistant professor at Kerala Varma College. The other five Malayalam teachers are Deepa Nishanth, an assistant professor at Thrissur Kerala Varma College, Dr MR Rajesh, Dr TK Kala Mol, Dr Brilly Raphael and Dr S Girish Kumar. The assessment camp was held at Sree Krishna College, Guruvayur.
