THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPM central committee member and former minister KK Shailaja has come up with an explanation after a controversy erupted over her remark against KT Jaleel MLA during the discussion on the Lokayukta amendment. While KT Jaleel got up to speak during the discussion on the bill, Shailaja was heard saying, "He will put us in trouble." However, the former minister was unaware that her mic was still on.
Later, Shailaja came up saying that what she said was being circulated in a misleading manner. 'It was I who moved the motion to refer the Lokayukta (Amendment) Bill to the subject committee on Tuesday in the Assembly. During the speech, Hon Member KT Jaleel raised a question. As I sat down on my seat, I spoke to Saji Cheriyan as I was worried that I will lose my speech time. It is regrettable that what I spoke to my fellow MLA is being circulated in a misleading manner. The allegation that I spoke against Dr Jaleel is baseless and malicious,' Shailaja wrote on her Facebook page.
Meanwhile, the Lokayukta Bill was introduced in the Assembly amid protests and controversies. It was Law Minister P Rajeev who introduced the bill.
