NEW DELHI: Three Air Force officers have been dismissed in connection with the accidental crash of BrahMos missile in Pakistan. The investigation committee found that all three had violated standard operating procedures. Officers in the rank of Group Captain, Wing Commander and Squadron Leader were subjected to the action.

On March 9, the missile was accidntally fired and landed at Mian Channu, 124 km from the Pakistan border. No casualties were reported as there was no warhead. India expressed regret over the incident, but Pakistan strongly protested. The three officers were found guilty by a court of inquiry set up by the Ministry of Defence.

An Indian missile accidentally landed in Pakistan on March 9 at 7 pm. The supersonic missile took off from Sirsa in Rajasthan and landed near Mian Channu in Khanewal district, 124 km from the Pakistan border. It was initially suspected that the missile was accidentally launched during routine technical checks. Later the Defense Minister himself confirmed this. Explosives were not attached to the missile which avoided a big accident.
