THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Police have identified the two thieves, who escaped by pointing a gun at the youth who tried to stop a robbery attempt at a teacher's house in Edapazhanji. The accused are Mohd Monish (25), a native of Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, and his accomplice. Police have intensified the search to nab the two.

The police was able to identify the accused after they found the scooter used by them to escape from the area. The scooter was found abandoned on the PMG-Vikas Bhavan road. Soon, the police found that the accused had hired the scooter from Dastajeer, a native of Kovalam. Upon questioning, Dastajeer said that he rented the scooter to Mohd after receiving a copy of his Aadhaar and an advance of five thousand rupees. Police thus obtained Mohd's picture from the Aadhaar copy. Mohd is the thinnest of the accused. Dastajeer came to know that the accused used his scooter for the theft only when the police called him.
