THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A police inspector dismissed for abuse of power has been reinstated in the crime branch. Thodupuzha SHO NG Sreemon reinstatement has been mentioned in the order that transferred Inspector Girilal, who had an argument with the Food Minister the other day, to Vigilance.
Sreemon was dismissed from service after he was found guilty of abuse of power in 18 cases. The action of the court was based on a complaint filed by Babychan, a native of Thodupuzha Udumbannur, alleging that he was unjustly interfering in a civil dispute and harassing him. The order was based on the inquiry report submitted by Vigilance IGH Venkatesh.
More than 30 complaints were raised against Sreemon. Later, IGH Venkatesh found that 18 complaints were substantiated. The dismissal was following the instructions of the High Court. Sreemon has been charged with corruption, bribery, custodial death, intimidation and many other charges. While issuing the order, the court mentioned that such officials are a threat to the society.
Later, Sreemon appealed to ADGP Vijay Sakhere following which he was reinstated. The dismissal was quashed and the punishment was reduced to a three-year salary withholding.
