THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Governor Arif Mohammad Khan on Wednesday said that he was feeling ashamed to continue as the university chancellor. He also said that as a chancellor he was feeling ashamed regarding nepotism in the appointment of staff in the universities.

"I won't allow nepotism in appointments no matter what bill is passed. The Legislature has the power to pass laws. The question of whether I will sign the bill or not is irrelevant," the governor said. The governor said that there is nothing wrong with introducing the University Act Amendment Bill and that the Assembly has the power to introduce it. However, he added that he will not allow anyone to sabotage the self-governing powers of the university.
