THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Adani Group has approached the High Court against the ongoing protest by fishermen against the construction of the Vizhinjam port. The Adani Group filed a petition in the High Court seeking protection by the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). The contract company has also filed a petition.
Earlier, the talks held by the cabinet sub-committee to end the strike had failed. Although the government had announced that 5 of the 7 demands raised by the protesters were accepted in principle, the sub-committee was unable to go into its details.
The fishermen are protesting under the leadership of the Latin Archdiocese, raising seven demands. The protesters are alleging that the construction of Vizhinjam port will cause coastal erosion.
