KOCHI: The High Court has cancelled the appointment of famous Dalit activist Rekha Raj as assistant professor in Mahatma Gandhi university. Rekha Raj was appointed as Assistant Professor in Gandhian Studies. Nisha Velappan Nair, who was on second position in the rank list, approached the High Court against this decision.
The plea states that she was not given marks for Ph.D and that Rekha Raj was given more marks than she deserved for the research papers. This argument was accepted by High Court Division Bench comprising of Justices P B Suresh Kumar and C S Sudha and declared to quash the appointment. The court also ordered to appoint Nisha Velappan Nair instead of Rekha Raj.
