THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Leader of Opposition V D Satheeshan said that Chief Minister should respond on Governor's revelation that CM had told him that since Kannur is his home district, it was a personal request to re-appoint the current Kannur university VC.
'CM should break his silence. It has been alleged that the Chief Minister intervened by influencing the Governor and surpassing the university rules by cancelling the search committee for re-appointment of VC. The allegations were raised by Governor who is the administrative head of the state and not by the opposition. Is this the way of governing a university? asked Satheeshan.
He also alleged that Adani had approached the High Court with the knowledge of the government. The government and Adani are trying to end the strike.
The then UDF government formulated a compensation package of Rs 471 crore because it was foreseen that around 3,000 houses along the coast would be adversely affected as the port construction progressed. The LDF government has not implemented this and has joined with Adani, added Satheeshan.
