THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Home department of Kerala is sending a team of officials from the secretariat to study the problems at the grassroot level of the police force. Such an action is taken as part of polishing the image of the state police. The team will conduct study by visiting police battalions and stations. As a first step, six officers under the leadership of Under Secretary V V Binil will arrive today at the KAP 3 Battalion at Adoor.

The CPM guideline is that the ministers should actively intervene in the departments and take decisions after discussing with the officials. The study is aimed at making the Secretariat officials more aware of the matters and issues at the lower level. Home department section officer Ashoka Kumari and three assistant section officers are in the team. More women were included in the team to study the problems of women officers.

"The committee will study the governing system,working of the police and the inadequacies in the force. They will submit a report with recommendeed remedial measures.", said Dr V Venu, Home Secretary.
