KANNUR: The furniture factory of industry award winning couple, which was closed down by Thalassery municipal corporation has been opened. Municipal authorities visited the factory and directly handed over the order. The action was taken after the intervention of the minister.
Raj Kabeer (58), of Thazheveettil in Pannoor and his wife Sreedivya (48) fled from their hometown after the municipality downed their furniture factory. The issue became controversial. The police found them in Coimbatore and were brought back the other day. The couple went missing on Tuesday evening. The couple left the hometown after posting on social media that they are fleeing the place as they could not bear the brutal action and asked not to find them. The police got hints that they are in Coimbatore in an investigation conducted focusing on the tower location.
The factory with ten employees was closed by the municipality on the allegation of encroachment. A fine of Rs 4 lakh was also imposed. The high court order was to pay the amount in instalments on the complaint of the couple. Complaints were also raised that the couple who came with this order were insulted by the officials and municipal administrators.
A fine of Rs 41,000 had to be paid as per the direction of the High Court to re-operate the factory. Raj Kabeer said that he was happy to open the factory which had been closed for 36 days and stated that he did not want a conflict with the municipal corporation. He thanked the High Court and the Municipal Corporation for providing the opportunity to open the factory. Raj Kabeer also stated that Municipal authorities told him that they will discuss further matters later.
