NEW DELHI: Kerala Congress(M) president Jose K Mani has asked the Chief Minister to form a special committee to handle the buffer zone issue. He also released details of the data collection done by the party. Jose K Mani is expressing his displeasure almost three months after the buffer zone order came out.

According to the verdict issued on June 3, 2022, the Supreme Court has ordered that one kilometre area around wildlife sanctuaries and protected forests should be declared as eco-sensitive zones. The Supreme Court had directed to provide the details regarding the residential areas in the eco-sensitive zones within three months. The Forest Department informs that this data has been collected to some extent with the help of Kerala Remote Sensing Agency. Its initial report was submitted to the Empowered Committee appointed by the Supreme Court. But Jose K Mani says that this is not sufficient.

The study should be directly conducted in the areas included in the buffer zone, said Jose K Mani. He also demanded to form a special committee for this purpose. He has done an impact study on his own and submitted this information before the Empowered Committee.
