THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state government has come up with an explanation regarding the controversy surrounding the invitation extended to Union Home Minister to attend the Nehru Trophy Boat Race as the chief guest.

Amit Shah will be coming to Kerala to attend the Southern Zonal Council meeting in Kovalam. This time council meeting will take place in Kerala. The South Regional Council meeting of the Inter State Council Secretariat will be held in Kovalam on the 3rd of next month. All South Indian Chief Ministers are also participating in the meeting. The government has also stated that all those attending the meeting, including the Chief Ministers, have been invited to the boat race.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, Chief Ministers and Ministers from other South Indian states, Administrators from Lakshadweep, Andaman and Nicobar Islands and others will attend the meeting at the Raviz Convention Centre in Kovalam. The Council meeting is a platform for discussing and resolving issues between the states as well as issues between the central government and the states.
