KOCHI: Nehru trophy boat race lovers from Ernakulam can now travel to Alappuzha via KSRTC buses. The KSRTC is all set to launch special services under the budget tourism cell. There should be 45 to 50 passengers for one service. The KSRTC is running services for passes of Rs 500 and Rs 1000.

The travel fares will be charged as implemented by the budget tourism cell. The passengers will be charged fares from their boarding points. The bookings can be done from anywhere in Kerala.

If there are fewer passengers in Ernakulam district, then we will consider operating the services from Cherthala depot, said Shefiq Ibrahim, state coordinator, budget tourism Cell.

The KSRTC will run adequate services from all districts. The idea arose during a discussion held by Transport Department secretary Biju Prabhakar with Alappuzha district collector and sub-collector. After knowing the response of the people, fast passenger, super fast or deluxe bus will be provided for service. Return services will also be provided after the end of the boat race.
