NEW DELHI: Congress presidential election will be held on October 17. The Congress Working Committee meeting held on Sunday announced the election dates. The results will be declared on October 19.

The party's central election authority chairman Madhusudan Mistry said that the notification for the election will be issued on September 22 and the submission of nomination papers will begin on September 24 and continue till September 30.

Interim President Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi participated in the working committee meeting which was conducted online. Such an important decision regarding the presidential election was taken in the working committee meeting held after the resignation of senior party leader Ghulam Nabi Azad on Friday. Azad had criticized Rahul Gandhi in his resignation letter sent to Sonia Gandhi.
