THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: After being announced as the new state secretary of CPM, Minister MV Govindan said that he will abide by the party's decision and there is no special challenge when he becomes the secretary. The minister's response was at a press conference held in Thiruvananthapuram.
"The party decided to make me the secretary. The party will consider a change in the cabinet. The party will decide on the resignation of the minister. Communalism and unemployment remain challenges. The party will overcome the difficulties and move forward without any difficulty. Congress does not have the capacity to defeat BJP and move forward. All the secular forces should unite against the BJP", MV Govindan said.
MV Govindan was made CPM state secretary after Kodiyeri Balakrishnan resigned due to ill health. The decision was taken in the CPM state committee. There will also be a change in the cabinet.
'In the event that Kodiyeri Balakrishnan is unable to perform the duties of the CPM State Secretary, MV Govindan has been selected as the party secretary by the state committee meeting today.'- the party informed through a press release.
The state committee meeting chaired by LDF convener EP Jayarajan was attended by party general secretary Sitaram Yechury, PB members Prakash Karat, Pinarayi Vijayan, MA Baby, A Vijayaraghavan and others.
