IDUKKI: Two shutters of the dam will be opened at 4 pm today as part of adjusting the water level in the Idamalayar Dam. 68 to 131 cumex of water will be discharged by raising the shutters 50 to 100 cm.

The water level in the dam presently is 164.05 meters. The district collector said the people on the banks of Periyar should be on alert as part of the opening of the dam. Fishing, crossing river, and river tourism are prohibited. The district collector also informed that bathing and washing clothes should be avoided in Periyar and tributaries as there is a possibility of strong underflow.
