LUCKNOW: The Railway police have recovered a seven-month-old baby, who was stolen from a railway platform in Mathura some days back. The stolen child was found 100 km away at a BJP leader's house. With this, the railway police busted the racket that used to steal and sell children.

According to the Railway police, BJP leader Vineeta Agarwal and her husband wanted a son and bought the baby from two doctors for Rs 1.8 lakh. The couple also has a daughter. The footage of the child being stolen away from its parents, who were sleeping on the platform, was caught on CCTV. Police arrested eight people including those caught on camera. The doctors who handed over the child have also been arrested.

Police later handed over the child to his parents at a press conference. Meanwhile, there has been no official response from the arrested leader or the BJP.
