KOCHI: Heavy rains lashed Kochi causing waterlogging and traffic snarls in several parts of the city. Many places in Kochi city have been flooded. Waterlogging is severe in Kalur, MG Road, Panampally Nagar and Thammanam. Houses near Ernakulam North Railway Station area are flooded.
Transportation was disrupted from Palarivattam to MG Road. High Court sitting got delayed due to heavy rain and waterlogging.
Heavy rain is continuing in Alappuzha as well. Water level has risen in Kuttanad and Upper Kuttanad. Water level rises in Meenachil River in Kottayam. Pampa Dam will be opened soon.
Meantime, widespread rain is likely to lash Kerala for the next five days. The Central Meteorological Department has informed that there is a possibility of isolated heavy rains and thunderstorms during these days. Yellow alert has been announced in 14 districts today and tomorrow.
