KOCHI: The government has filed a plea in the high court against an interim order on the salary issue in KSRTC. The government’s plea is against Justice Devan Ramachandran's verdict that the government should immediately allocate Rs 103 crore to KSRTC to resolve the salary issue. As per the verdict pronounced by the high court’s single bench, Rs 50 crores each should be allotted for the salary of July and August and Rs 3 crores as festival allowance by September 1.
In the plea against the verdict, the government argues that it has no obligation to pay salary to the KSRTC employees. KSRTC was set up on the basis of the corporation law. The government argues that it can only give the same consideration to KSRTC, as it gives to other boards and corporations in the state. Hence, the order should be quashed, demanded the government.
Meanwhile, the distribution of pension has been stopped in the KSRTC on Tuesday. It was stopped in the districts of Kottayam and Thiruvananthapuram due to technical failure. As a result, many people, including the elderly who came to collect their pension early in the morning, were in crisis.
