KOCHI: A holiday has been declared for educational institutions in Ernakulam district on Wednesday. The decision comes amid heavy rain in the district. The District Collector has declared a holiday for all institutions, including Kendriya Vidyalayas, Anganwadis and professional colleges. Various parts of the district received heavy rain on Tuesday. There was severe waterlogging in Kochi.

Meanwhile, the Indian Meteorological Department has warned that there is a possibility of heavy rain in five districts in the state within the next three hours. Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Alappuzha, Ernakulam and Idukki districts are likely to experience heavy rain with thunder at isolated places. Wind gusts of up to 40 kilometers per hour are also possible, according to the warning.
