ALAPPUZHA: In a joint inspection conducted by Alappuzha IB and Excise range team, 21 kg ganja kept for sale was seized. Mavelikara natives Thaju(30) and Vineeth(30) have been arrested. Both are engineering graduates and are known in their nicknames Ikru and Pakru. They are regular attendees in drug parties. The raid was conducted based on information provided by State Excise Enforcement Squad Head AEC T Anikumar.
The arrested persons are the main links in the drug sales mafia Mavelikkara-Chengannur area. They have inter-state connections and use women to deliver ganja to Kerala in luxury vehicles. The accused were leading a luxurious lifestyle with the money from drug peddling. Alappuzha Excise IB has received a clear information about other links in their supply chain. Ganja worth more than Rs 5 lakh has been seized. The accused have admitted that they used to sell ganja to school and college students and youth.
In the raid, IB Excise Inspector G Femin and Preventive Officers I Shihab, G Gopakumar, G Alexander, M Abdul Shukoor, Mavelikara Excise Range Inspector P. Saju, Preventive Officer V Benny Mon, Civil Excise Officers U Shibu, Pratheesh P Nair, V Arun and Civil Excise Officer Nimmi Krishnan were also present.
