NEW DELHI: The National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) report released yesterday has recorded a significant reduction in the crime rate in UP. According to the report, in 2021, there was a huge decrease in serious crimes like rape and murder in UP. UP ranks 23rd in the country in terms of rape cases in the report of 28 states and eight Union Territories. Last year, 2845 rape cases were registered in the state. Meanwhile, UP is also among the states with the least murders. 3,717 cases were registered last year in UP, which is ranked 24th.

According to NCRB data, crimes against women and children in Uttar Pradesh have decreased by 6.2 percent and 11.11 percent respectively in 2021 compared to 2019. In 2019, 59,853 crimes against women were registered in the state, which has come down to 56,083 in 2021. Similarly, 18,943 cases were registered for crimes against children in 2019, which decreased to 16,838 in 2021. The state ranks 28th with 16,838 cases of crimes against children and 36th with 50 cases of kidnapping for ransom.

Communal conflicts also recorded a huge decrease in UP. This is also the main achievement of Yogi Adityanath government. Only one communal riot was reported in the state. But 100 cases were reported in Jharkhand, 77 cases in Maharashtra and 22 cases in Rajasthan.


Huge decline in cybercrime

Cyber ​​crimes in Uttar Pradesh have reduced from 11,416 in 2019 to 8,829 in 2021. A decline of 22.6 percent was recorded in this category. The state has achieved this feat at a time when cyber crimes are on the rise in other states of the country. Meanwhile in UP the punishment for crimes is also very high. In UP, 7,713 accused were arrested in cases against women, 292 in cyber crimes, 40,212 in arms seizure and 11,2800 under the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
