THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The government has announced that it will give a monthly house rent of Rs 5500 each to 335 families suffering due to coastal erosion in Vizhinjam. The decision regarding this was taken in the cabinet meeting held today. The cabinet also decided to build a flat on the spot found in Muttathara and complete the construction on time. Tenders will be invited from builders for this. The government has also stated that it will quickly implement the rehabilitation package for the affected people.

Meanwhile, the High Court has completed the hearing on the petition filed by Adani Group and the contract company seeking security for the construction of the port and adjourned it for judgment tomorrow.

The Adani Group had informed the court that more than a thousand protesters were camped in the high-security area and that the project will not go ahead without providing security. The government clarified that the construction cannot be stopped because of the strike.
