NEDUMANGAD: A young woman chased away the thieves who tried to nab her chain by kicking her in the middle of the road while riding on a scooter. Paruthikuzhi native 28-year-old Swathy was attacked by two men on a bike. She had gone on a scooter to pick up her husband who had given his vehicle for repair in Nedumangad.

The incident happened on Thursday at 10 am in Uzhamallaykal Nellikuzhi-Paruthikuzhi road. At a deserted place, the two men asked her directions to Aryanad. While giving directions, the person who sat behind the bike kicked the scooter. Swathy who fell on the ground got up and hit the thief in the hand using the helmet while he was about to nab her chain. They turned the bike and rushed away after getting hit. Although she followed them back on scooter, they were nowhere to be found. The young woman was wearing a chain of three sovereigns. The police checked CCTV footage and identified that the number plate was hidden using paper. The police have registered a case.
