KOCHI: The High Court on Thursday said the construction of Vizhinjam port should not be obstructed and that police protection should be ensured. The court's order came on a petition filed by Adani Group and port construction contracting company Howe Engineering Projects.

The court said that those protesting against the project should not obstruct the construction project. The High Court directed the police to provide security to the companies for construction and further pointed out that in case of difficulties, the help of the central forces can be sought.

The court has given instructions to the state police chief in this regard. At the same time, the strike committee said that this is not the final verdict and the struggle will continue. The petition will be considered again on September 27.
