ALAPPUZHA: The love for khaki uniform has turned retired SI Abdul Jaleel into a tailor. Many police officers approach Jaleel and his SJS police mart for uniforms and related items needed in the police department. Jaleel only stitiches khaki uniforms. Tailoring is done at home after taking the measurements of those who arrives to the shop. The uniforms of Excise, Fire force, Jail, Forest, SPC and NCC department are also tailored here. Uniforms of officers up to DYSP level are being stitched here.

Abdul Jaleel, a native of Alappuzha, joined the KAP-three battalion as a constable in 1993. He retired as SI in 2020. He worked in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Ernakulam, Alappuzha and Pathanamthitta districts.

Jaleel learned tailoring after completing SSLC and worked in a garment shop. He started 'Naseeb Garments' in 1984 but the shop was closed when he joined the police service. Jaleel belongs to a police family. His father and brother worked in the police department.
