THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The CPM state secretariat meeting to be held today afternoon will decide on the leader who will replace CPM state secretary MV Govindan in the cabinet. According to sources, leaders are considering CPM state committee member and Thalassery MLA AN Shamseer for the post of minister. It is reported that there will be no major reshuffle in the cabinet beyond the replacement of Govindan. However, there may be some revamp regarding the portfolios of the ministers. M.V Govindan will step down as minister today.
The CPM state secretariat meeting was postponed to Friday afternoon as Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will be in Kochi in the morning in connection with the Prime Minister's visit. There is no indication that the new minister will get the important local government and excise departments. If any of the current ministers are given these portfolios, arrangements will be made in the cabinet accordingly. The portfolios of ministers are likely to change. Apart from Shamseer, P Nandakumar and CH Kunjhambu are also being considered for the ministerial post.
