PALAKKAD: Two more accused in the Walayar POCSO case have been granted bail. The Palakkad POCSO court granted bail to the first accused V Madhu, a native of Pampampallam in Palakkad and third accused Shibu of Rajakkad in Idukki. The CBI had mentioned in the charge sheet that the children in Walayar had committed suicide. The court granted bail considering this.
The accused should not enter Palakkad for six months, should appear at Thiruvananthapuram CBI office on alternate Saturdays, should not leave the state, a bail bond of Rs one lakh each should be paid. The bail was granted on the condition that the accused should appear at the police station where they live once a month and sign. The CBI had asserted in the charge sheet that the Walayar children committed suicide. The court granted bail considering this.
The high court had earlier granted bail to M Madhu, the second accused in the case. Another accused Dilip Kumar had committed suicide. Another accused is facing trial in juvenile court. All the accused have now been released from jail. The Palakkad POCSO court had last month ordered the CBI to reinvestigate the case.
A 13-year-old girl was found hanging in a shed at Walayar Attapallam on January 13 in 2017. On March 4, her nine-year-old sister was also found dead under similar circumstances.
