NEW DELHI: The bench chaired by Justice Dinesh Maheshwari will hear the pleas related to the actress assault case. Chief Justice UU Lalit directed the petitions to be listed before this bench. The fresh direction was given in the background of the retirement of Justice AM Khanwilkar, who was hearing the petitions earlier. Along with Justice AM Khanwilkar, Justice Dinesh Maheshwari was present in the Supreme Court bench which ordered that the trial in the actress assault case should be completed within six months.

At the same time, the trial court judge approached the Supreme Court seeking more time to complete the trial in the actress assault case. It is indicated that the trial court judge has asked for a time of six months. The Supreme Court will consider this demand on Monday. On Monday, the Supreme Court will also hear a plea filed by actor Dileep seeking a direction to the trial court to complete the trial in a timely manner.
