GUWAHATI: BJP has taken revenge on Nitish Kumar for breaking the alliance on coalition government in Bihar by joining forces with parties like RJD and Congress. Five JD(U) MLAs from Manipur left the party and joined the BJP. Assembly Secretary K Meghajit Singh informed that the Speaker has given approval for the MLAs joining BJP. JD(U) has a total of six MLAs in Manipur. Five of them joined the BJP.
The JD(U) is facing a major setback in Manipur after they broke the alliance with BJP for the second time in nine years. JDU MLAs Joykishan, N Sanate, Mohammad Achab Uddin, former DGP LM Khaute and Thangjam Arunkumar have joined the BJP.
This is the second time that MLAs from JD(U) are joining BJP in North Eastern states. Before this, six out of seven JD(U) MLAs in Arunachal Pradesh had joined the BJP in 2020. The only JD(U) MLA who remained in Arunachal Pradesh later joined the BJP. In the assembly elections held in March last year, JD(U) won six seats out of a total of 38 seats.
