JAIPUR: A cook who discriminated against Dalit students has been arrested. The incident took place in a government school in Rajasthan’s Udaipur district, last day. Cook Lala Ram Gurjar was arrested by the police for allegedly discriminating against two Dalit girls.

The Dalit girls had served the midday meal prepared by Lala Ram. However, Lala Ram objected to this and asked the students, having the meal, to throw it away, said the police.

The students threw away the meal upon the cook’s instruction. Following which, the girls informed their parents about the incident. Later, the family members, along with some relatives, arrived at the school and demanded action against the cook. A case has been registered against the cook with Gogunda police station under the SC and ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
