CHENNAI: One has been arrested in connection with the incident of murdering a Tamil film producer and businessman Bhaskaran (68). After killing him, the accused wrapped the body in a plastic cover and dumped it in a canal. The Virugampakkam police arrested Ganesan who used to deliver women to Bhaskaran.

The body was found wrapped in a plastic cover near the canal in Chinmaya Nagar on Saturday. The municipal employees saw the bag containing the body on Saturday morning and informed the police. A cloth was found stuffed in his mouth and both hands were found tied.

Bhaskaran had gone to meet Ganesan on Friday evening. A fight broke out between the two at home. The police said Ganesan killed Bhaskaran, who was in an inebriated condition, by hitting him on his head and then wrapped the body in a plastic cover and dumped it in the river.

The police are interrogating two women in connection with the incident. CCTV footages and visuals of Bhaskaran withdrawing money using his ATM card turned crucial in the case.
