BENGALURU: Karnataka's capital city has been waterlogged due to heavy rain. The life of people has come to a standstill due to heavy flooding in residential areas and streets. The Indian Meteorological Department has issued a heavy rain warning in the state today. The Met Office has also predicted that there will be heavy rain with thunder for the next five days.
Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said officials have been directed to deploy the state's Disaster Relief Force (SDRF) teams in Mahadevapura and Bommanahalli, the worst flood-hit areas. He also said that they have been assigned to send boats and other equipment for rescue operations in these areas.
Experts attributed the excess rainfall to the shear zone, which is a monsoon climate change that has developed at an altitude of about 4.5-5.8 km above sea level. There is also a warning that the rain will be intensified in the next few days.
