THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned that there will be widespread rain in the state in the next three hours. There is a possibility of strong winds and thundershowers at isolated places in all the districts.

A red alert has been announced in southern Kerala tomorrow. These districts are likely to receive heavy rain. A red alert has been sounded in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta and Idukki districts, an orange alert in Alappuzha, Kottayam and Ernakulam districts and a yellow alert in other districts, the IMD said. The rains are due to the influence of a cyclonic circulation formed along the Kanyakumari coast.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that people should remain cautious. Orange Alert has also been announced in eight districts on Uthradam day. Heavy rain is likely in the state during Onam days.
