NEW DELHI: The central government has decided to change the name of the Rajpath, the stretch from Rashtrapati Bhavan to India Gate in the national capital. The name of Rajpath will be changed to Kartavya Path. The decision to change the name of Rajpath comes as the Prime Minister is about to inaugurate Central Vista Avenue near Parliament on the 8th of this month.

During the reign of King George V during the British rule, this main road in the national capital was named King's Way. Later after independence, it was dubbed into Hindi and called Rajpath.
