THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The fourth round of talks held by the cabinet sub-committee with the Latin Archdiocese in Vizhinjam also failed to yield any result. Vicar General Eugene Perera said that no proper decision was taken regarding anything in the meeting. He also accused the Chief Minister of insulting them through his speech. He clarified that the strike will be made state-wide and the first phase of the strike will start from Moolampilly.
The discussion was led by ministers V Abdurahiman and Antony Raju. An eleven-member team led by Vicar General Eugene Perera participated in the discussion. The Latin Archdiocese informed the ministers of their protest during the meeting.
Minister V Abdurahiman responded that the government has considered all matters regarding the issue of fishermen and it is not right to prolong the strike. "The court itself said that the Vizhinjam port construction cannot be stopped. The discussion will continue in this regard. The Latin Archdiocese has not told us that they will intensify the strike. The Chief Minister has not insulted anyone. There is no point in prolonging the strike. The government is taking proper action in every matter," he said.
